A recent visit to Sticks'N'Sushi in Cambridge opened my eyes to a whole new level of Asian style food.

For the British people Asian food has become increasingly popular over the last decade with the growth of international cuisine around the UK. We have big Sushi chains such as Yo! Sushi and Wasabi sitting in most major cities around the UK producing fresh sushi to a mass consumer level.

So, what’s different about Sticks’N’Sushi?

Firstly, you will be pleasantly surprised by the beautiful modern décor when entering the restaurant. It’s runs a city chic vibe with it’s sleek black circle bar to centre piece the room. Even the lighting transports you to a blissful ambiance with it’s three tier pendant lighting scattered around the centre.

An experience where luxury meets tranquil.

Now, let’s get to the meaty part..

Many sushi places offer a good range of styles such as bento, sashimi, nigiri and maki. Sticks’N’Sushi goes that extra mile with a stunning photo album menu which showcases not just your standard sushi expectations but also beautiful sharing Yakitori and Sashimi platters. For those who aren’t confident with the idea of raw fish, it will come as a shock when you branch out to find the quality of all the fish and meat produce is some of the best flavours you’ll ever taste. Not only does it give you an eye opening experience as to how great raw fish can really taste but it also arrives in a beautiful presentation.

Here’s what I ordered;

Starter: Crab Balls with a side of Edamame Beans.

Main: ‘The Perfect Day‘ Sharing Platter (Trust me- I was definitely sharing)

My choice of drink: ‘STIX SPRITZ‘ (Kamm & Sons, plum wine, a touch of yuzu & agave, topped up with prosecco).

After tasting this sublime food some of my favorites would have to be the crab balls, and as someone who doesn’t usually eat seafood this is a new revelation, and the duck maki just because the fusion of flavours really stood out. However, all the food was crafted to perfection and each sauce complimented its dish.

The Little Extra: Sticks’N’Sushi offers water which is charcoal activated. It arrives in a glass carafe where inside there is a piece of charcoal which purifies and filters the water, making it fresh and free from any of the nasty bits. Perfection!

I could rave about their menu all day but if this article has left you feeling hungry here’s the link to the online menu where you can check out all the rest: http://www.sticksnsushi.co.uk/menus.html

It’s been a pleasure Sticks’N’Sushi Cambridge!
